Winemaker's Notes

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is legendary for dry, rich full-bodied red wines renowned for their ability to cellar for many years and to complement the finest dining occasion. Our Marcelina Cabernet Sauvignon from the 1996 Vintage exudes these characteristics, yet maintains a balance of structure and tannins that allows the wine to be enjoyed upon its release in a wide range of dining occasions. This wine has up-front complex concentrated blackberry, black cherry and cassis fruit flavors framed by smoked bacon, tobacco and cedar notes, coconut characteristics. This is a full-bodied Cabernet with velvety, silky texture and balanced tannins, resulting in a richly textured mouthfeel and lingering finish. With the well-balanced elegance that is found in this wine, it will easily pair with roasted or grilled meat and game with a red wine based or dijon mustard sauce. It will mesh equally well with more casual cuisine such as vegetarian dishes or wood-oven pizza seasoned with olive oil, and fresh herbs.
