Winemaker's Notes

MacMurray Ranch Sonoma Coast Pinot Gris possesses an expressive fruit-forward character, exhibiting rich aromas of fig, white peach, and pear. The bright aromas and complex varietal characters of citrus and elements of spice add both weight and interest to the wine. The flavors of peach, spicy pear and citrus meld together in a rich core, resulting in a round mouth feel which complement its crisp, clean finish.

The Sonoma Coast covers 750 square miles, from the Mendocino County line in the north to the Sonoma-Marin border in the south. Adjacent to the Russian River Valley, portions of the Sonoma Coast offer a unique climate zone - the coolest area in Sonoma County. Cool, moist air from the Pacific Ocean and cooling winds and fog pour in through the Petaluma Wind Gap, creating ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir. As a result of these unique characteristics, the Sonoma Coast is recognized as a premier source for exceptional Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris varietal wines.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2008 Pinot Gris continues their string of winners, offering notes of honeyed orange blossom, baked apple pie, and white currants. This fresh, unoaked, medium-bodied white reveals good acidity, and fills the mouth with joy. Consume it over the next year."

This wine had a nice spicy finish that I cant describe. Didnt have quite the acidity I was looking for--the wine is more akin to a chardonnay than pinot gris. A tasty choice with lots of melon overtones, but it didnt blow my mind.

MacMurray Ranch was purchased from the Porter family by famed actor Fred MacMurray in 1941. Fred raised his family on the ranch and they enjoyed the natural wonders of Sonoma County. Today, the ranch looks much as it did a century ago, surrounded by rail fences and framed by oak and redwood groves. Only now it is home to some of Sonoma County's finest vineyards. Aside from being...

Pinot Gris' most popular and successful region is Alsace, France, an area of the country that actually puts the name of the grape on the label. Pinot Grigio is the Italian version of the grape,...
