Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.3%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Though the Sonoma County Petite Sirah represents only 27% of the blend, its dark fruit profile and firm tannins provide much in the way of the structure of this wine. St. Helena Zinfandel fruit adds brightness to this proprietary blend. 55% Zinfandel, 27% Petite Sirah, 11% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very dark red color with rustic aromas of leather, dark fruit, and smoke. The fruit is framed by savory and spicy notes.

The full-bodied wine was aged primarily in French oak barrels - most neutral - and compliments BBQ, pizza, Italian food, and all meat dishes.

I agree with Stephen...this wine packs a big cherry and blackerry fruit punch but is also balanced and smooth. It has a complex nose, with spicy notes. Like bnk, I just ordered more Lucky for me and a friend as the label design is perfect for gift giving. At 10 bucks, this is my new everyday red.

One of the best under $10 reds I've had. Pleasing nose, lots of fruit. Smooth over the tongue and a smooth finish. I will buy again at this price.

At $9.99 this is definitely the VALUE choice for red wine! So bold, yet sensitive, it can be successfully paired with almost anything in the red wine repetoire. This expains its instant popularity!

At this price, you can't beat this wine! Worth much more than $9.99. Like some others, we purchased a few bottles, drank one, and ordered a case. The nose is not that outstanding but it does come on. Great flavors in the mouth and smooth. A great everyday wine.

Strange bottle. No vintage and no other description of the wine on the label except that it's red wine from California. Having said that, the wine is actually very nice for $10. Dark fruit and spice on the nose and palate, medium finish. Solid value for an everyday drinker.

This was a delicious wine with fruit notes of strawberry and cherry. A smooth dry finish and enough weight and light spice to compliment a variety of meals. This blend was very enjoyable.

Agree with other reviewers. Nice to sip while cooking. Lucky pairs with quite a good number of foods. We've had it with pizza, grilled chicken, and goat curry. Ever notice the wide variety of wines suggested on the web for a particular dish? An everyday, affordable wine that you would serve to friends.
