Winemaker's Notes

Barolo Cannubi Boschis is the Sandrone flagship wine, and the wine that garnered Luciano his early acclaim with international trade and press. This single-vineyard wine is typically dense and concentrated, but shows incredible harmony and balance. The medium-weight structure shows delightful and seductive notes of berries and cherries, with floral and mineral aspects. The finish is sweet and broad, with moderate, ripe tannins and long length.

Critical Acclaim

"Sandrone's 1994 is a feminine-styled, elegant Barolo with a medium ruby color, and an attractive, smoky, black cherry, and raspberry-scented nose. Mineral and new oak notes are also apparent in the wine's fragrance. In the mouth, it is expansive and long, with considerable finesse and elegance. Not a blockbuster in the style of the 1990, it is an elegantly wrought wine with outstanding purity and harmony."

It is not the most planted variety, but it does make the most distinctive and age-worthy wines. Native to Piedmont, Nebbiolo is a bit of a soil snob - it's finicky about where it grows and has long been the honored red grape of Northern Italy...
