A rich purple-red introduces Lucente, flecked with luminous ruby
highlights. The nose opens to a generous array of aromas, prominent
among them fruity notes of wild cherry, dried plum, and blackberry
preserves, lifted by toasty nuances of cocoa powder and black liquorice.
The palate immediately impresses with its warmth and silky fabric, and
with dense, fine-grained tannins, already well integrated. A superb
structure, good alcohol, and crisp vein of acidity beautifully balance
each other, and a long-lingering finish completes the overall harmony.
50 % Merlot, 35 % Sangiovese, 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon
"The 2008 (La Vite) Lucente is a gorgeous wine laced with dark fruit, spices, mocha, licorice and new leather. This shows terrific minerality, freshness and verve, along with a round harmonious finish, all worth noting in the challenging 2008 harvest. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.
