Alcohol By Volume: 15.1%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
This structurally dense, full-bodied and complex wine was crafted to capture the essence of Napa Valley's diverse mountain terroirs. It offers ripe and concentrated aromas and flavors of blackberry and blueberry along with toasty sweet oak. The intensity of the dark fruit flavors in Lot 1 Cabernet Sauvignon are both velvety and complex, showcasing nuances of chocolate, hints of brown and black spice, culminating in a soft and elegant finish. This wine can be cellared for 10 years.
"The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 1 emerges from the glass with beautifully delineated black fruit, flowers, mint, licorice and tar, all of which come together beautifully on a vibrant powerful frame. Despite its size, the Lot. 1 shows remarkable freshness and vibrancy. It is a beautiful, totally classy wine. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
The Wine Advocate
"This has been pretty much Martini's best Cabernet Sauvignon over the last few years, and with this ’08, the winery commits itself to playing in the major leagues. It’s very rich and ripe in sweet blackberries and cherries, with a tremendous oak coat, and the tannin-acid structure is of the highest order. Should age effortlessly over the next 12 years, at least."
"Ripe, plump and generous, with supple spice, currant, blackberry and cedar flavors. Full-bodied and smooth-textured, with the fruit flavors building gracefully. Drink now through 2020. 500 cases made."
