Winemaker's Notes

This powerful and delicate wine has intense red berry and spice aromas and flavors. With great length on the palate, this wine will develop favorably in the bottle for 15 to 20 years.

Critical Acclaim

"There is much less wood in evidence on the fresh, spicy, earthy and dense nose of both red and black currant scents. The mouth feel is notably finer than that of the Clos de Vougeot as the tannins are more fine-grained plus there is good verve to the medium weight plus flavors that culminate in a mouth coating, firm, moderately austere and strikingly long finish. This should be excellent.
Barrel Sample: 90-93 Points"
93 Points

"Medium red. Distinctly cool aromas of medicinal red fruits and peppery herbs. More saline than fruity on the palate, in a rather tightly wrapped style. This went through its malolactic fermentation earlier than the Clos Vougeot and seems more backward today--not to mention less sweet than usual at this stage of its evolution. 90-92 points "
