Leeuwin Estate Siblings Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2009
Bordeaux White Blends from Margaret River, Australia
From the near perfect growing conditions of 2009, the vibrant pale straw wine displays intense passionfruit, orange and lime zest together with gosseberry and dusted jube notes. The palate is soft with intriguing layers of textured lemon, lime and pink lady apples ending in a long finish, well blanced by the lingering acid.
Australian Wine Companion - "A 62/38 blend, the varieties seamlessly joined in a never-ending circle of herb, grass, citrus and lemongrass, the finish alluringly fresh and crisp."
Leeuwin Estate Winery
After an extensive search in 1972 to identify the most suitable Australian area for the production of premium varietal wines, Robert Mondavi singled out a small plot of land in the Margaret River region. At the time a cattle farm, Leeuwin Esate evolved under the direction of owners Denis and Tricia Horgan, with Mondavi acting as a consultant and mentor. The initial vineyards were planted by hand over a five year period from 1975, with the state-of-the-art winery opened in 1978. In 1979, Leeuwin Estate had their first commercial vintage. Today, Leeuwin Estate maintains a team of highly-skilled and dedicated winemakers, under the direction of two generations of the founding family, exporting to over 30 countries. About AustraliaLike the United States, which is about the same size, Australia's winemaking regions are huddled into one or two pockets of the country. The state of South Australia, which produces about 60% of the country's wine, also has the most wineries and sub-regions, including McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, Coonawarra and Barossa Valley. New South Wales is home to the Hunter Valley, while the smaller, southern state of Victoria is best known for theYarra Valley. Head way west to the very large state of Western Australia and you'll find the tiny region of Margaret River at the southern tip.

Enjoyable.Chris Poole - New Providence, PA412/20/2011Jitegemea - Wellsboro, PA112/18/2011210/30/2011I know that we didn't spend a lot for this but we were still disappointed and expected more. It had a bit of an odd taste that we couldn't identify. We gave it an 85 because we thought it was much better with food. We like SB because it generally works well with or without food. We will get through our remaining bottles but will not buy more. Not sure where the 94 came from???Ron Bachman - Spring Grove, IL310/24/2011410/22/20114 1/2 stars...very nice wine that we liked alot
