Freshly cut limes, lemon sorbet and hints of Granny Smith apples combine with pronounced floral notes, hints of sweet spice and fragrant kaffir lime leaf. The palate is taut and fine with bursting Tahitian lime and lemon pith. Lively and racy acid underpins the palate throughout. Mineral and flint characters make this vintage one of Leeuwin's finest.

After an extensive search in 1972 to identify the most suitable Australian area for the production of premium varietal wines, Robert Mondavi singled out a small plot of land in the Margaret River region. At the time a cattle farm, Leeuwin Esate evolved under the direction of owners Denis and Tricia Horgan, with Mondavi acting as a consultant and mentor. The initial vineyards were planted by hand over a five year period from 1975, with the state-of-the-art winery opened in 1978. In 1979, Leeuwin Estate had their first commercial vintage. Today, Leeuwin Estate maintains a team of highly-skilled and dedicated winemakers, under the direction of two generations of the founding family, exporting to over 30 countries. Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
