Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale straw in color with green hues, the aromas of this wine are fresh and appealing, with citrus spice and lovely floral notes. The palate is an alluring mouthful of flavors, combining citrus, spice and lychee characters balanced by a crisp, juicy acidity and lingering finish.

The 2008 Magnus Riesling displays all the hallmarks of fine Clare Valley Riesling; juicy acidity, lemon citrus and fullness of flavor. Drink now to enjoy its full fresh flavor or cellar in the medium term to enjoy some additional toasty complexity.

Critical Acclaim

"Some attractive bath powder and apple blossom aromas followed by a very crisp and delicate palate, but which gains intensity on the finish. Very well priced."

Not normally crazy for Reislings, but this was a nice surprise. Nice flavor - more complexity than most rieslings that I've tried. Will definitely keep a bottle around...

Good but not something I would normally drink. Nothing striking about it.
