Winemaker's Notes

Le Libertin de Lussac is the second wine of Château de Lussac. Following the tradition of Bordeaux's right bank, this wine is primarily Merlot. The left bank of Bordeaux is primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and typically the wines are as well. Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.

This wine has a beautiful dark red color with a mix of ultra ripe berry, plum, and dried fruit flavors. A touch of liquorice and toasted oak provide great balance and complexity that lingers on the palate. A deliciously approachable wine in its youth.

Learn About Le Libertin de Lussac

Château de Lussac was acquired in 1999 by Mr. Laviale, a Parisian media businessman. His objective was to produce the best wine of that appellation. Well located in the center of the small village of Lussac, 6 miles northeast of St. Emilion, this 100-year old property has been completely renovated and is a living renaissance today. The cellars were dramatically modified with ultra modern technology for vinification by lots and to provide large storage for barrels.
