The Godello grapes that go into it make Papa a jewel of a wine. Able to age similar to Chardonnay in white Burgundy, Godello is rapidly becoming the most popular white grape in Spain ahead of Albariño and Verdejo. Many top Spanish winemakers and Spanish wine writers believe Godello will be the grape that will put Spanish white wines "on the map." A grape that can communicate more than fruit, Godello conveys the geography of its place of origin, the aromas and flavors that the soil imparts to the wine. The vineyards farmed to make Papa are full of slate and granite, and the wine shows assertive aromas of rosemary, thyme, and oregano, underscored by a firm mineral character.
This fresh, mineral-inflected Godello will pair well with swordfish sautéed in butter and wild herbs, grilled or pan-fried sweet veal or pork sausage, and a host of casual foods like tapas, pasta with white clam sauce or fried oyster sandwiches.
"This is a selection form dry-farmed vineyards in Larouco at 1750 feet, where the soil is slate and granite over clay. The wine is fermented without added yeast in stainless steel vats, where the malolactic is blocked and the wine rests until bottling. The result is a beautiful, summery godello, with the salt air and beach rose scents that may make you nostalgic for a day at the shore. Underlying the freshness is a mountain-grown cool, layering pear with the creamy nuttiness of an aged cow's milk cheese. The purity of flavor and sneaky acidity seem improbable at the price. Buy this by the case. "
Wine & Spirits
"Made from the indigenous Spanish varietal Godello (25-year old, organically farmed vines), this cuvee is aged completely in steel and sees no malolactic fermentation. A restrained yet intense minerality along with spicy, lemony, flinty, stony notes make for a fresh, medium-bodied, complex white to enjoy now."

Fruity & Smooth
Nice round, ripe aspects that border a dry chardonnay complimented with a firm mineral backbone. Needless to say an incredibly pleasant surprise.
This wine is awesome!
