La Posta Angel Paulucci Vineyard Malbec 2010
Malbec from Argentina
Vibrant red color with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and violets wafting from the glass along with notes of toasty oak. On the palate, the fresh berry flavors mingle with spice notes and there's a hint of soft caramel on the finish. This is a creamy, medium-bodied and well-structured wine that is incredibly full of life.
Goes great with everything from hamburgers and chicken to pasta and mild cheeses.
Wine & Spirits - "In a world of superripe malbec, once in a while we come across a wine that emphasizes red fruit and tense acidity—without giving up the weight and structure that would place it with the meats of an Argentine asado. This is a selection of vines planted at end of the 1960s in Mendoza, and 2010 may be the best vintage this site has produced to date."
The Wine Advocate - "More serious is the 2010 Malbec Angel Paulucci Vineyard, sourced from 38-year-old vines and aged for 14 months in 25% new French oak. Notions of cedar, Asian spices, incense, floral notes, and black cherry lead to a smooth-textured, elegant, spicy offering that delivers outstanding value..."
La Posta Winery
We have tasted over a thousand wines since we began importing from Argentina. In that time, we have discovered a handful of grape growers whose results in the vineyards with specific varietals have been truly amazing--year in, year out. Our first encounter with many of these growers was at a posta del vinatero, or "tavern of the grape grower." Here they drank wine and spoke passionately for hours about their soils, their vines, and their quest for superior flavors in their grapes. We salute the hard work and skill of these growers by offering these vineyard-designated releases made solely with their special grapes. View all La Posta Wines
Notable FactsUnlike its Chilean neighbor, Argentina's vineyards are spread out around the country. The best known region is Mendoza, almost parallel to Santiago to the west. Mendoza contains the sub-regions of Maipu (pronounced MY-pu) and San Rafael. Grape-wise, the most important white is Chardonnay, making wine similar to California's style on the variety. Another fun white grape to try is Torrontes. Almost only grown in Argentina, Torrontes makes wines that are crisp, aromatic and easy-drinking. Some of the best versions of this wine come from the northern region of Salta, with very high altitude vineyards. As for the reds, Cabernet Sauvignon is the main grape for many wines leaving the country, but Malbec, the grape Argentinians like to call their own, makes very distinctive wines that are structured, dense and velvety. Many more varieties happily grow in the country, but for export, and consistent quality, these are the primary grapes.

A very nice Malbec. Black cherries, raspberries and spices grace the palate. A nice fruity and floral aroma wafts from the glass. Served with hamburger and went over very well.Jonothewright - Honolulu, HI512/6/2013So very good. An extremely smooth wine with very strong fruity flavors. I love malbec, and this is my favorite malbec. Lucky then for me that it is available at such a reasonable price since I would still buy this at several times what they are asking for it.CasualRiojaDrinker - Berwyn, PA511/20/2013
