Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
L'Ecole Nº 41 has produced this old vine, Vouvray style Chenin Blanc since 1987. Jean Ferguson, L'Ecole Nº 41's founding winemaker, loved this wine and crafted her version of Vouvray through cold fermentation to enhance the fruity and floral esters.
This fresh and vibrant Chenin Blanc shows abundant expressive aromatics of jasmine, orange blossom, and mango with flavors of star fruit, apple, and peach on a balanced, crisp mineral finish

provides perfect balance to this lovely Chenin Blanc,
sourced from old vines in the Yakima Valley. The floral
top notes invigorate the entry, and the cool climate, old
vine flavors mingle seamlessly. A sea of sweet melon,
citrus, pineapple and orange creates a broad and flavorful mid-palate, all in beautiful balance and proportion.
Heavenly bouquet if served at 53 degrees. Right out of the wine fridge however, it was bready/yeasty. Goes to show how just a few degrees difference can make or break a wine. This one is delicate and fruity and just plain delicious, not to mention a great value.
One of our better domestic Chenins and an excellent value. I re-ordered a half case.
