Winemaker's Notes

40% Mourvedre estate, 40% Grenache estate, 20% Syrah estate. Ruby in color with garnet edges, the aromas are diverse, with a spice bouquet, mineral notes, and blueberries leading the way. The attack on the palate is vibrant, with rich violet and wild berry flavors standing over a stream of cherry, pomegranate, and tar. The finish is opulent, with vanilla spice sounding a final note.

Critical Acclaim

"Another blockbuster and decadently rich, extravagant expression of winemaking is the 2007 Cote a Cote, a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and 20% Syrah. An incredible wine, it tips the scales at 15.9% alcohol but is loaded with melted licorice, black currant fruit, sweet, jammy cherries, forest floor, and a bit of pepper and fruitcake notes. Deep, full-bodied, and layered, it is voluptuous, with relatively low acidity and velvety tannins. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Wow!"
95 Points

"Opaque ruby. Potent dark berry and cherry scents are complicated by notes of licorice, smoked meat, violet and fruitcake. Lush, spicy and energetic, offering sweet dark fruit flavors and a refreshing hint of bitter cherry. Seamless and alluringly sweet, with strong finishing lift and outstanding clarity. You could easily enjoy this sexy wine right now."

Learn About Rhone Red Blends

The Rhone region of France has a delightful selection of red varieties. There are 22 grapes allowed in the Rhone AOC, about half of them red. Most of these varieties are used as secondary blending partners, often comprising less than 10% of the blend. The primary red players of Rhone blends are Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. Most wines from the Southern Rhone use Grenache as their...
