Winemaker's Notes

Kistler A wine of weight, without being heavy that is consistently supported by a strong acid profile and a steely like sulfide character.

Critical Acclaim

"Always a show-stopper in terms of aromatics, the flowery 2004 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard offers hints of smoky hazelnuts, honeysuckle, orange blossoms, buttered apples, and white currants. With exuberant fruit, full body, terrific definition and precision...

"Green-gold. Strong iodine and sulfide tones accent bright pink grapefruit and lemon, with an intriguing smoked meat quality adding depth. Deep, concentrated and mineral-driven, with strong citrus and quince flavors, but the soil tones are even more pronounced. A singular, intensely scented and flavored chardonnay, with great character, concentration and power. This was one of the most memorable wines of my trip. Kistler says that it will be the longest-lived of the vintage's chardonnays."
