Produced only in exceptional vintages from grapes of the highest quality. Pia is an oak aged, dry white wine. The regions, vineyards and varieties used will vary depending on the grape quality.
Oxidatively handled, this wine is barrel fermented in a mixture of new and older barriques, lying ‘sur lie' for 10 months, spontaneous malolactic occurs. Weekly battonage ensures the oak is well integrated, as well as enhancing yeast autolysis. Blending occurs on a barrel by barrel basis just before the next vintage.
Stylistically the wine is full bodied with emphasis on complexity and texture rather than fruit power. Due to the fruit quality and handling, good ageing potential is ensured.
