#100 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2010
Crafted from the fruit of some of South
Africa's oldest Pinotage vines, this
benchmark bottling is a true Cape classic!
Alluringly complex and distinctive, it
boasts juicy layers of dark berries,
cassis and plum intertwined with hints
of banana and mocha and a smoky,
"Deep red-ruby. Aromas of cherry, mocha and spices. Dense, pure and deep, with compelling complexity and sweetness to its cherry and dark berry flavors. Lovely lush pinotage with solid structure under its supple tannins. Consistently one of South Africa's elite examples of this variety. Drink now or over the next ten years."
International Wine Cellar
"Dark and alluring, with mulled black currant, Turkish coffee, bittersweet cocoa and licorice snap notes framed by solid structure. Shows roasted notes, but stays polished and focused on the grippy finish. Drink now through 2012."
This is a nice pinotage, not quite as good as some of the the other vintages. Nice undertones of licorice and mocha with berry.
