Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Aromas of spicy dark cherries, cassis and plums followed by a savory mix of earthy red and dark berry fruits on the mid and backpalate with hints of mocha. They all combine beautifully with the abundance of soft tannins and integrated oak.

Critical Acclaim

"The purple-colored 2007 Shiraz was aged in 25% new French and American oak. It gives up aromas of pepper, lavender, boysenberry, and blueberry followed by a medium-bodied, elegant style of Shiraz with good depth and length. It has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will be at its best from 2011 to 2019."
