Of ruby red color, the wine shows hints of mature red berries, tobacco and spices accompanied by vanilla notes coming from the aging in French oak barrels
On the nose it is both elegant and complex. This Cabernet is a, mouth filling wine showing good structure with very soft tannins due to an optimal grape picking time at the vineyards. The wine is ready to be enjoyed now and has a cellaring potential of 10+ years.
Grape Varieties: 98% Cabernet Sauvignon / 2% Malbec
"Kaiken's 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Ultra is reticent aromatically but with coaxing reveals aromas of cedar, spice box, floral notes, black currant and blackberry. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it has generous quantities of spice, layered fruit, as well as good balance and volume. It is slightly short in the finish which prevents an outstanding rating. It can be approached now although it is likely to evolve for 1-2 years."
The Wine Advocate
This is one of the best wines, if not THE best wine I have ever tasted at $9.99...and it is still worth the $24.00 retail price. Buy as much as you can at the discounted rate. Deep dark red in color, with a full body taste and satisfying dryer finish. Great for cold nights, eating red meat, or nibling on stronger goat cheese by the fire...I orignally bought this to give away as gifts but I'm not letting a single bottle of the six I bought go, in fact I should have bought an extra case at this price!!
Big & Bold
Took the first bottle to a party and poured half of it down the drain. Not a $20 wine.
