Bright, medium to dark ruby core with purple highlights around the rim. Aromas are medium-plus intensity and of elegant bright red and black fruit like cherries, cassis and some blackberry perfectly combined with tobacco, pencil lead with subtle vanilla and slight anise spice. On the plate, flavors of bright red cherry, with darker cassis and berry notes at the beginning. Sustained fruit with dusty tobacco, vanilla and licorice in the mid palate. Long, complex finish dominated by bright cherry, with a pleasing combination spice, mineral and herbs.
Blend: 67% Cabernet Franc and 33% Merlot
"Love the nose to this with dark fruits and cigar tobacco on the nose. Hints of milk chocolate. Full bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is a very beautiful wine indeed. Decadent and refined at the same time. Unfiltered. Made from 67% Cabernet Franc and 33% Merlot."
"Offers ripe, rich layers of blackberry, plum and cherry, fanning out nicely and gaining traction on the finish, where the fruit purity of the Cabernet Franc states its case, showcasing the grape in a ripe, expressive manner. Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Drink now through 2024."
Justin and Deborah Baldwin acquired their land in 1981 and planted 72 acres in vineyards that same year. Initially they were wine growers, selling to other wineries. Then, in 1987, they harvested their first grapes bottled under the Justin label. Justin Winery concentrates on two Bordeaux styled red wines: Isoscleles, which is a 100% estate blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and Justification, a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Varietals are planted to specific soil types on their hillside vineyards 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean, on the Central Coast.
The largest of California's wine growing regions, the Central Coast produces the majority of California's wine. The district sprawls out, covering most of the vineyard land between San Francisco and Santa Barbara. Smaller sub-AVAs of the Central Coast include Monterey Bay, Paso Robles, Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains and many others. Notable Facts...Read More About Central Coast
