The 1997 vintage of this wine was ranked #6 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2000
A deep ruby core. Gorgeous ripe raspberry and currant with soft oak notes of vanilla. A touch of roast coffee adds to the dazzling range of aromas.
On the palate, layers of clean, direct fruit show themselves varingly with each sip as flavors of black currant and brown spice intensifies. The crisp, yet surprisingly grippy mid-palate shows promise of a long future in cellar.
Blend: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot
"I really like the balance and subtle fruit in this red with currants, spices and light coffee aromas and flavors. Silky textured finish. Hazelnut and fruit on the finish. Harmonious wine. Made from 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Best in 2014."
Justin and Deborah Baldwin acquired their land in 1981 and planted 72 acres in vineyards that same year. Initially they were wine growers, selling to other wineries. Then, in 1987, they harvested their first grapes bottled under the Justin label. Justin Winery concentrates on two Bordeaux styled red wines: Isoscleles, which is a 100% estate blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and Justification, a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Varietals are planted to specific soil types on their hillside vineyards 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean, on the Central Coast.
The largest of California's wine growing regions, the Central Coast produces the majority of California's wine. The district sprawls out, covering most of the vineyard land between San Francisco and Santa Barbara. Smaller sub-AVAs of the Central Coast include Monterey Bay, Paso Robles, Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains and many others. Notable Facts...Read More About Central Coast
