Style: Smooth & Supple

Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.6%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Rich, aromatic dark fruits and baking spices delight the nose, yielding fresh plum and blackberry fruit, violet, dried fig, vanilla bean and Chinese Five-Spice. The wine is juicy with the plum and blackberry flavors prominent, layered with smoky and sappy maple wood, roasted almonds and hazelnuts, finishing long with fine, firm tannins.

Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot

Perfect with the steak I grilled this weekend.. Very approachable, so great on its own- but also wonderful with food! Nice dark fruit with good tannic structure. Friends loved it too.

Been sitting on this since 2011 and finally decided it was time to crack one open. Nice and smooth with a great finish. Great inexpensive vintage if you can still find some.

We first tried Josh through our local wine club and it was a stand out favorite. After that, Josh has been our go-to cab; delicious and affordable!

This is my favorite and reliable Cabernet. Everyone I have shared it with loves it. No stress with what to serve, if I need a red, this is my new standard. My brother in law is in the military, and this wine donates money to the military, too, makes it even better! As another reviewer said, this is my house red!

LOVE this wine! It has big ripe berry flavors, with a hint of spice, and smooth tannins that pair well with grilled steak. Great value for the price. I consider it my house red.

Our first encounter with this wine was at the Greystone Grill in Ellicott City, MD. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered a case. So far, the first bottle is just wonderful.

What more do you want from a $10 bottle? Good balance of acid and tannin with enough nuanced fruit to get to the next sip. Goes well with that leftover pizza on Tuesday as well as the grilled sirloin later in the week. It's Josh, don't over think it, just enjoy.

This was horrible. The notes on the label made it seem like a typical California Cabernet. It was far from it. We opened the bottle and smelled the B.O. Aerating or decanting would have done nothing for it. We'd rather have some "3-buck" chuck instead. Sorry, Josh.

This wine is a joke. Little more than red water. Again I hate to keep harping on the "winemakers notes" but if this is a wine made by winemakers for winemakers than they need to look for other jobs. Awful

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
