Joseph Drouhin Rully Blanc 2005
Chardonnay
from Burgundy, France
winemaker's notes:
In the southern part of the Côte d'Or, a few miles South of Santenay, lie the vineyards of Rully. It is a lovely area, part of the Region of Mercurey.
Both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are grown on the brown calcareous soil, the Chardonnay being found mostly on clay and limestone. As in the rest of Burgundy, the continental climate, with its warm Summer and mild fall, is very favourable to the good maturity of the grapes.
Rully is a delicious white Burgundy wine which resembles the whites from the Côte de Beaune: a luminous, golden green colour, a toasty, fruity nose, a refined, elegant body with floral and cinnamon notes.
This exquisite wine, which goes so well with delicate fish and most shellfish, is also an excellent value.

Had this wine at tasting in Drouhin cellars in Beaune and again on picnic in their Clos des Mouches vineyard. Great picnic lunch wine. Crisp, refreshing, and a great price-performer. Made this our everyday summer wine.
We love it. Crisp. Delicious white for sipping or with food. My "I hate Chardonnay" friend just bought a case after having it at my house.
