Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.9%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2010 Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of plum, raspberry and cherry cola with hints of anise, cocoa, leather and dried herbs. Bright acidity on the front of the palate leads to a complex mid-palate and soft tannins on the finish. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fantastic cabernet... especially for the price. Great structure showing a nice balance of berry, anise and herb flavors. Smooth finish. Always thrilled when I find an affordable wine that goes down with elegance.

This was nice, there was quality juice in every sip but I didn't feel like I was drinking a Napa cab. Very light bodied and better suited for sipping rather than pairing. Not a bad intro Cab for someone who might be moving up from Pinots or Merlots.
