Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

"Dreams" is made with Chardonnay grapes. It has a sparkling straw-yellow color and the nose offers charm and complexity, with aromas of rare elegance and refinement. Exotic hints of ripened fruit, melted butter, vanilla and pastry prevail. In the mouth it keeps all the promises made to the nose, follows through on them, and embellishes them with gentle flavors and aromatic nuances that are fresh and persistent.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2008 Were Dreams emerges from the glass with deep, intense layers of fruit. This barrel fermented Chardonnay shows plenty of opulence and richness, but in a nicely balanced style. Tropical fruit, smoke and French oak come together nicely on the finish. As good as this is, the Dreams has never been as convincing as Jermann’s top whites. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016."

The cool temperatures of the region result in the lively...
