Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2012 Zinfandel Landy Sweetwater Springs Vineyard boasts a lofty 15.5% alcohol, but, as with all of these Zinfandels, there is not a bit of heat or burn in the aromatics or flavors, disproving once again the myth of alcohol. The wine offers up brambleberry, raspberry and cherry notes. It does not display the completeness, density or follow-through on the palate of Cohn’s other cuvées, but it is an outstanding, full-bodied Zinfandel to drink over the next 5-6 years.

All JC Cellars wines are fermented in open top fermenting vessels that range in size from a half ton to eight tons, where each bin is hand punched down five times per day. This time-consuming procedure allows maximum exposure of skins to juice, intensifying the flavor of the fruit while handling it as gently as possible.
