Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine is round and rich with lime, grapefruit and lemon flavors. It is crisp with acidity and finishes bone-dry with a slightly toasted note. It is a great compliment to rich seafood dishes, including those heavily sauced with such ingredients as aioli.

Blend: 30% Chardonnay, 30% Xarello, 20% Macabeo, 20% Parellada

Critical Acclaim

"The golden color shows some maturity, while the flavors retain the brisk freshness of a Granny Smith apple. The finish is dry and austere, bringing a flinty scent and hints of mushrooms to the clean apple fruit. This will make a mouthwatering combination with gambas al ajillo."

Some houses, like Dom Perignon, only make vintage Champagne, so they do not produce a wine every year and have no non-vintage bottlings. What makes vintage Champagne better? Well, status for one - many vintage Champagnes are...
