A blend of our best reserve Syrah components of 2009. Extensive blending trials over several days enabled us to make a Syrah which we feel "has it all". Big, bold, smooth, and built to last.
"This is a selection of the best Syrahs from Jaffurs. There's normally about 150 cases made. The nose is very complex with meat, black pepper, and dark fruits. Full and dense but very balanced with fresh acidity and a long, long finish. This has complexity and intensity but subtlety. Better in 2013."
"The 2009 Syrah Upslope is a selection of the estate’s six best barrels. Waves of intense dark fruit wrap around the palate in this thrilling, intense Syrah. The style here is decidedly towards the massive and muscular, but all of the elements take shape beautifully in the glass. This is a superb showing from Jaffurs. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.
Vinous / Antonio Galloni
"Intense spice, pepper and dried wild berry notes give this a tight focus, and the wine unfolds slowly, turning supple and revealing a hot brick and roasted herb edge that promises to be more forthcoming with a year or two. Best from 2013 through 2023. 144 cases made."
