Winemaker's Notes

The southern Rhone Valley was blessed by the heavens in 2010. Spring was normal and summer was warm and dry – but not excessively so – which permitted the grapes to mature in the most optimal conditions. The wine is rich and dense; fresh with grains of tannins of great distinction. A vintage which married the wealth of the sun with the elegance of balance. Wines of a grand grade.

Parallele 45 Cotes du Rhone is a fresh, medium bodied red driven by notes of black fruit and exotic spices with a rounded and delicate mouthfeel.

Blend: 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah

Wow. Wish I'd had the smarts to order lots more of this before it sold out. Best $16 bottle of wine I can remember. Bit of earthy. Smooth. Fruit forward. Low tanin. Surprised it's French. Seems more California.

Learn About Rhone Red Blends

The Rhone region of France has a delightful selection of red varieties. There are 22 grapes allowed in the Rhone AOC, about half of them red. Most of these varieties are used as secondary blending partners, often comprising less than 10% of the blend. The primary red players of Rhone blends are Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. Most wines from the Southern Rhone use Grenache as their...
