JaM is short for John and Michele Truchard, who both grew up in Napa wine families, were friends in high school, and eventually started dating while away at college. They came home to make wine and start a family, farming their own vineyards and have been crafting ultra-premium wines in the Napa Valley for over a decade. John and Michele (the “J” and “M” in JaM) launched JaM Cellars to make high-quality winemaking traditions accessible for everyone, creating memorable, easy-to-love wines that over deliver in deliciousness. Their names are on the bottles and their hearts are in these wines.
JaM Cellars is all about easy-to-love, everyday wines. JaM’s four wines – Butter Chardonnay, California Candy Dry Rosé, JaM Cabernet Sauvignon, and Toast Sparkling - are rich, bold and luscious, and live up to their names. Butter Chardonnay melts in your mouth, California Candy Dry Rosé is as fresh as it is delicious and leaves you wanting more, JaM Cabernet is berry-licious, and Toast sparkling is a celebration in the glass. These wines are meant to be enjoyed anytime - whether it’s a special occasion or everyday celebration.
California’s most praised white wine, Chardonnay is also the state’s most planted white grape variety. Diverse terrain and microclimates allow for an incredible range of wine styles.
Chardonnay planted in the cooler, coastal zones takes on bright characteristics like lemon zest, key lime, green apple and wet flint. For this style, look to the chilly Sonoma Coast, Carneros, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Highlands and Edna Valley.
The inland zones of California’s coast, such as the Russian River, Sonoma, Napa and Livermore Valleys maintain a more Goldilocks-esque climate where both styles go. Early picking retains acidity and creates a leaner style but leaving the grapes to hang creates an approachable Chardonnay, balancing richness and finesse.
Chardonnay also plays a major part in the sparkling wine production of the Anderson Valley and Carneros.
