Winemaker's Notes

Very rich, but at the same time well-structured and not at all "fat". Very good interplay between floral flavors, mineral acidity and citrus aromas.

This Auslese is still less developed compared to the Spätlese, but will improve remarkably when opening further in the course of the next years. Great aging potential.

Serve this refreshing wine slightly chilled, as an apéritif or, especially when more mature, in combination with seafood and poultry, but also red meat and even fresh fruits. It is also an exciting match for Western style or Asian and Pacific Rim cuisine.

Critical Acclaim

"Aromas of rose, slate and smoke segue into lime and peach flavors in this elegant, stately white. It's crisp and transparent, with precise balance and a classic Mosel profile. Long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2035."
95 Points

"Reeks of heating oil at first, then slowly opens to reveal hints of honey, apple adn ctirus. This is a sweet but not overdone Auslese, with a slightly creamy textrue adn layers of ripe stone fruit that linger and pick up minerally overtones on the lengthy finish."
92 Points

Learn About J.J. Prum Map ItMap It

For centuries the Prüm family has called the village of Wehlen home. The 33.5 acre estate consists of nearly 70% ungrafted vines. Holdings are in the best parts of the top Middle-Mosel sites: Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst, Bernkasteler Lay, Bernkasteler Badstube, and Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen. Average annual production is 13,000 cases. The harvest at J.J. Prüm is always extremely late, and the wines are very long-lived.
