This wine truly represents some of the best California locations for Pinot Gris. This Pinot Gris has an enticing bouquet of apricot and tropical/pineapple fruit. The crisp, lush mouthfeel is also bursting with flavors of lemon and lime and finishes with a distinct minerality on the palate. A hint of kiwi and sweet orange blossom honey on the palate complements the fruit and acid.
This is the perfect sipper when entertaining with friends and its layered complexity and balanced acidity make it a great accompaniment to a variety of foods from classic French cuisine to Mexican. Try it with grilled shrimp topped with a tropical mango salsa.
Had the 2011 and loved it! The 2012 just lacks a little bit something special. While a pleasant bouquet, nothing truly discernible. A bit hot on the back of the tongue so something is not quite balanced. Abundant citrus notes that maybe overpower a bit too much. I imagine with grilled shrimp it is amazing, but I will be having it in/with White Bean & Sausage soup with Kale.
