On the nose, the Innocent Bystander has aromas of cotton candy, sherbet, pink grapefruit and mandarin with an undertone of toffee apple. On the palate, flavors of rose water, toffee apple and rhubarb crumble. The wine finishes with a spritzy fizz of fresh pear and raspberry characters.
Perfect food pairings include a bowl of fresh fruit and clotted cream and it also makes amazing Turkish Delight and sorbet. A great partner to Sunday morning brunch and one of the few wines that goes with blue cheeses.
International Wine Cellar - "Bright orange. Ripe melon, peach and tangerine on the emphatically fruity nose. Plush and round on the palate, offering fresh honeydew and pit fruit flavors and a touch of candied rose. A citrussy nuance adds lift to the finish, which clings with excellent tenacity and powerful peach and melon character. I could drink this by the gallon, and at 5.5% alcohol it wouldn't be a hard task."

Taking fruit from various sources in Central Victoria (in particular Sangiovese, Shiraz, Pinot Gris and Viognier) the team at Innocent Bystander is inspired to utilize and showcase the natural qualities of each region in their unique blends.
As a group of winemakers and viticulturalists who eschew the bland direction and market dominance increasingly exerted by the large corporate winemaking groups, the folks behind these wines see themselves as innocent bystanders. From stickies to Pinot Noir, Victoria is varied in its wines. The southernmost state of Australia, Victoria is third in wine production, after South Australia and New South Wales. The state is home to Yarra Valley as well as other cool climate growing regions, and yet, it also houses the regions of Rutherglen & Glenrowan. These two areas are hot and dusty and famous for their sweet, fortified stickies.
Notable FactsLots of coastline gives Victoria a cool climate, appropriate for growing grapes like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Many new regions are discovering their growing potential – especially with these grapes. Inland is a bit warmer, and some of the best fortified wines are made here,as well as some good shiraz.
