Hood River Vineyards was planted in 1973-1976 and founded in 1981 making it the first Oregon winery in the Columbia Gorge. Current owner/winemaker Bernard Lerch plans to keep this facility a small, family owned and operated business, cultivating attention to detail and affording a lifestyle that includes sharin a love of wine and winemaking with visitors from around the world. Planted vines on the 12 acre estate are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, and Gewurztraminer with availability of many other Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Rhone varieties from neighboring vineyards in the Hood River Valley and adjacent Columbia River Valley.
