The Hogue family planted its first vineyard over 25 years ago and soon realized that Washington's climate and soils had the potential to nurture world class wines. The Hogue Cellars' mission has always been to make wines that fulfill the promise of the land, using superior viticulture and winemaking techniques. Today, the family's original vision is celebrated in Genesis wines, which are crafted with the highest quality fruit from acclaimed vineyards throughout Columbia Valley.
Washington Syrah exhibits dark, juicy fruit character, brilliant color, a complex varietal
gaminess and a relatively low tannin level. Our 2007 vintage displays intriguing aromas of blackberry, fig, cranberry and apricot, with cinnamon, hazelnut and a bit of white pepper. On the palate this rich, finely balanced wine offers bright black cherry and a note of cinnamon spice. Pair with wild mushroom risotto or grilled
pork chops with caramelized onions and apple chutney.
"Smooth and velvety, delivering a warm, inviting mouthful of blueberry, plum, coffee and spice flavors that linger against refined tannins. Drink now through 2015"
"This is a ripe wine with dark berry notes accented by menthol and mocha. It offers a clean, pure shot of blackberry fruit flavor, the hint of smoke on the finish suggesting a good pairing with barbecued ribs."
