Winemaker's Notes:

76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 1% Lemberger.

For Hogue Genesis, we seek wine grapes from the most distinctive vineyard sites in Eastern Washington. For the 2007 vintage, we selected fruit from the choicest sites in Washington for Cabernet Sauvignon. Very ripe, full-flavored Cabernet was harvested from vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills and Wahluke Slope, where desert-like conditions of warm days, cool nights, and constant, drying winds allow fruit to fully ripen without threat of disease. We also selected grapes from Dionysus Vineyard, one of the oldest and most prestigious vineyards in the Columbia Valley, known for its intensely concentrated fruit. There is no mistaking this wine for anything other than Cabernet. It has classic Cab flavors of cassis and blackberry, along with cocoa and maple, an earthy undertone, and light cedar and spice on the finish. This is a serious, full-bodied wine with great aging potential. Pour alongside pan-seared filet mignon, braised short ribs, or grilled steak with chimichurri sauce.

About The Hogue Cellars:

The Hogue Cellars, founded in 1982 by Mike and Gary Hogue, is located in Eastern Washington's Columbia Valley, the premier grape growing region of the state. The climate and soils of the Columbia Valley produce grapes with intense fruit flavors and high natural acidity. The wines have a liveliness and ripe, zesty fruit flavors that make them ideal complements to a wide range of foods.
