Dark violet in color. Flowers and spice on the nose with intense blackberry
aromas. Exceptional levels of concentrated fruit and complexity with flavors of
cassis, ripe red cherries, hints of black pepper, mocha and persistent vanilla.
Smooth, round tannins highlight the creamy texture and lengthy finish.
A highly heralded match with grilled meats, complementing rich smoky flavors
with the wine's ripe juicy profile. Also pairs well with grilled or roasted vegetables,
pasta dishes and rich sauces.
I'm not a wine snob; I really enjoyed this wine. For people who usually like white wine and are trying to move into red wine this is a perfect red to start with. That is all.
This wine is a little to lean and austere for my tastes with no subtlety or balance. The fruit is much too young and I prefer a riper Malbec to balance out the tannins. The guy who sold it to me, told me that they used French Oak to soften it with hints of vanilla. There's nothing soft about this wine, I suspect new oak and taste no vanilla. There is a bright bitterness to it that runs down the center of your shrink wrapped tongue. It also cost me $17.00. But it drinks like $9.00 bottle. I recommend airing it out and paring it with dairy. I bought it at Vino Fino on Amsterdam.
