Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

2012 LuLu Sauvignon Blanc showcases the vibrancy of this variety with our single vineyard expression and racy acidity. This wine illustrates our belief that great wine is expression of single vineyard and vintage.

Critical Acclaim

"Light straw-green; an almost wanton, extravagant display of ripe varietal fruit with mango and pineapple providing the tropical base; backs off slightly on the finish, arguably no bad thing."

Style: Light & Crisp
Way over-rated, IMHO. This is a very one dimensional wine. Lacks typical varietal characteristics for a sauvignon blanc, e.g., gooseberry, herbaceous notes. It's crisp, but that's about all it's got going for it. Unfortunately I bought five bottles based on the Australian Wine Companion rating (92).
