    Somm Note

    Winemaker Notes

Immediately the deep golden hue of this wine makes it’s presence known in the glass. On the nose, there are notes of crème brulee, flowering jasmine, fresh challah bread and crushed oyster shell. The palate displays a sleek viscosity with interwoven flavors of lemon curd, crushed rock, chamomile and pear. This wine starts bold and full, while finishing with a memorable and subtle finish, in and out like the tide.

    Hestan Vineyards Winery Image
Hestan Vineyards is a family-owned estate with 56 low-yielding acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec planted on the eastern slopes of Napa Valley. We also have a small 2-1/2 acre vineyard of Chardonnay planted at the mouth of the Napa River near the bay.

From opulent to elegantly finessed, each of our wines pays homage to the artistic interplay between our vineyard’s diverse terroir and our winemakers’ stylistic interpretation.

One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.

A large Northern California appellation centered on the San Francisco Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay AVA falls within the larger Central Coast AVA. The smaller appellations of Livermore Valley, Pacheco Pass, San Ysidro District and Santa Clara Valley AVAs fall within the San Francisco Bay boundaries, and all produce high-quality Central Coast wines.
