Winemaker's Notes

This vintage displays notes of toffee, vanilla bean and hickory on the nose, which lead into black cherry, pomegranate and black licorice on the palate. Seamless tannins flow through the mid palate and then dovetail into a dark chocolate finish.

A complex and approachable wine that pairs with moist fish, grilled meats, caramelized onions and wild mushrooms. This wine will best be enjoyed from 2008-2012.

For the main entrée, I choose the New York Strip bone-in and my wife had the Fillet and crab, accompanied with garlic mash and Parmesan spinach. We paired our meals with the Hess Collection Cabernet, Allomi Vineyard 2005, 86% Cab, 10% Petite Sirah, and 4% Petite Verdot. 14.5 Alc. Spent 18 month in 30 Am./ 70 Fr. oak. Just released March 2008. Gentle spice in the nose and front palate followed by a long persistent tri-berry cobbler finish. In the glass color showed dark cherry and crimson. I scored this wine 89 Pt's on Cuvee Corner 100 pt tasting scale. Now it's QPR score is 95 Pt's. Considering the retail price is a mere $24.00. A very food friendly wine, which is immediately approachable without the need to decant. Refined elegance for a Paupers price. Learn About Napa Valley

It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
