Winemaker's Notes:

A consistent warm growing season ensures full ripening of the Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the Allomi Vineyard. This wine expresses a lush yet firm texture with good acidity, firm tannins and distinctive bing cherry and anise flavors.

This vintage displays ripe plum and black licorice followed by cedar, currant, and toast. The flavors are expansive starting with black cherry and finishing back to fleshy plum. The texture of the wine lets you know it’s a Cabernet; deep and concentrated, but supple tannins round out in the after taste.

A complex and approachable wine that pairs with moist fish, grilled meats, caramelized onions and wild mushrooms. This wine will best be enjoyed from 2006-2010.

"Rich and dry in ripe cherry jam, blackberry pie, cassis, blueberry, smoky oak and spice flavors, it's a complex young wine that approximates the best of Napa Valley."

Additional wines from The Hess Collection:

About The Hess Collection:

Donald M. Hess first purchased vineyard land on the rugged slopes of Mount Veeder in 1978. He was struck by the beauty of this land and the old vines that clung to the mountainside. The choice of the land is vital to creating distinctive wines; sense of place and the combination of climate and terrain creates the essence of Hess wine.

The winery buildings, dating back to 1903, were renovated and reopened in 1989. Mr. Hess' modern and contemporary international art collection is showcased at the winery along with the estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley Chardonnay.
