Winemaker Notes
Verdejo: A variety mainly from Rueda. One of the finest white grape varieties of Spain. It gives roundness, length and fruity peach and apricot aromas.
Viura: A variety emerging in the 20th century. Known under the name Macabeo in La Rioja and northern Spain. It brings acidity and freshness.
This wine is ideal with desserts such as apple tart and fruit salad.
The vineyards in Rueda are very old, blush-vines planted in deep, rocky soils on the alluvial river plain. The Tempranillo grape produces flavorful and sturdy reds here (and recently received D.O. status in 2000), but the whites, from Viura, Verdejo, and Sauvignon Blanc, have perhaps even greater potential. The extraordinary local terroirs allow Hermanos Lurton to produce wines which are rich in both character and tradition. Hermanos Lurton's goal is to employ the most modern techniques in order to preserve the regional character of the vineyards and the grapes.
