The Maiden represents the second selection from the estate. It is a highly detailed and sumptuous wine, remarkably faithful to the vineyard's pedigree. Accordingly, the resemblance to her "big sister" is unmistakable.
"Readers should not overlook the dense purple-colored 1997 Maiden, a creamy-textured, full-bodied, unctuously thick, rich wine. Jammy cassis, new oak, smoke, and espresso notes explode from the glass of this blockbuster. An amazing effort, it will drink well when released, and last for two decades."

The tannins spread out to coat the entire palate, but ultimately come across as less supple and more rustic than those of the flagship Harlan Estate bottling.
