Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

A bright fragrance of Clementine orange, fresh limes and a honeyed floral sweetness mingle with rich almond butter and a flinty, mealy savouriness reminiscent of freshly mown meadow hay. The palate is smooth and textural with lemon and grapefruit top notes wound into a warm marmalade brioche. An intricate flavor profile with a sense of subtlety that amplifies to a wine of powerful dimension.

Critical Acclaim

"Distinctive and complex, with a mix of candied orange peel, buttered popcorn, fig, lemon meringue and apricot flavors. Smooth and succulent, presenting a long, juicy finish. Drink now through 2025."
92 Points

"The 2011 Chardonnay is redolent of apricots, pineapple and toast, with attractive hints of struck match, cashews and cedar. Full, flavorsome and voluptuous in the mouth, there’s a wonderful creaminess to the texture complimented by rich, apricot and nut flavors before it finishes with great length.

Learn About Greywacke Map ItMap It

The Greywacke portfolio is based on the Marlborough region's signature varieties, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The Sauvignon Blanc is crafted in two distinctive styles: classically pure Marlborough Sauvignon, and an alternative wild yeast-fermented, oak-aged Sauvignon. In addition, Kevin indulges his creative drive with small parcels of Chardonnay, along with aromatic varieties Pinot Gris and Riesling. When the season graces this idyllic region with ideal conditions, limited releases of late harvest wines from the aromatic varieties are produced.
