Winemaker's Notes:
The color is a medium to deep red with crimson hues. The bouquet reveals rich dark berry fruit and plum aromas, complexed by smoky, spicy oak. These flavors are again evident on the rich palate with tight fruit flavors persisting on the finish. This wine has wonderful and elegant cabernet fruit characters coupled with the softness of merlot.
Viticulture: Sourced from the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, with the majority coming from the Connawarra and Wrattonbully regions. This region is famous for outcrops of red soil that sits above a hard layer of coastal limestone – hence the regions name. The 2000 vintage had a long cool ripening period allowing maximum fruit development. Yields were well down on the previous year but fruit quality was considered excellent. |
