Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This charming Cabernet delivers a classic Bordeaux profile, with excellent structure and balance. It flaunts complex flavors of blackcurrant, cherry, and dark chocolate, tinged with alluring herbal and spice notes.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 The Glass Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is matured for 12 months in oak with racking every four. It has a lifted, slightly “briny” bouquet with good definition. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, a grainy texture with a dry, quite austere tobacco-laced finish. Showing impressive grip and persistence, I suggest leaving this for another 12 months in bottle. Drink 2013-2020. "
90 Points

"This is a very nice Cab at an extremely friendly price. Smoke and deep black fruit are the first impressions from the bouquet, with aromas of whole tobacco leaf and balsamic reduction appearing upon further nosing. Filling and velvety in the mouth, a kiss of charred oak and roasted cocoa nibs remain through the close."

This organization seemed to favor quantity over quality and had most...

Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
