Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense garnet red in color. On the nose, this wine is fresh and clean, with toasty aromas, ripe fruit and spices. Intense, warm, full-bodied, soft, fresh, and tannic with medium persistence.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2007 Barolo Arborina shows fabulous intensity and integrity in its dark red fruit. Higher toned, ethereal, mentholated notes emerge over time adding further lift and brightness. The finish is round, harmonious and totally engaging. This is another standout from Giuliano Corino. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. "
94 Points

"Dark red. Very ripe aromas of singed plum, blackberry, cherry and brown spices. Sweet, lush and very ripe, with a slightly roasted fruit character but also more energy and definition than the basic Barolo release. Finishes firmer and longer but without the nuance for an even higher score."

Nebbiolo(neh-bee-OH-low) The King of Piedmont Nebbiolo is the key grape in the wines of Barolo and Barbaresco. It is not the most planted variety, but it does make the most distinctive and age-worthy wines. Native to Piedmont, Nebbiolo is a bit of a soil snob - it's finicky about where it grows and has long been the honored red grape of Northern Italy...
