Alcohol By Volume: 14.8%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2010 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir offers a luxurious experience of the senses with aromas of lavender and dark cherries, supported by spicy notes of toasted oak. Rich flavors of boysenberry, blackberry, cassis and vanilla meld into a soft, silky mouthfeel.

Critical Acclaim

"Richness and delicacy commend this Pinot. Part of a new line from the venerable E.&J. Gallo, this wine is quite successful, especially at this price. It's rich and fruity, with impressive depth and length, and its finish is long, spicy and oaky. Editors' Choice."
