Alcohol By Volume: 12.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

35% Macabeo, 25% Xarel·lo, 40% Parellada. A Cava with an exceptional, fresh, fruity style and a lingering aroma. It is the perfect partner for the finest food and excellent at any time.

Critical Acclaim

"This shows more finesse than many of its peers, displaying a subtle juiciness, joined by aromatic apricot, quince, mandarin orange and almond notes. Finely meshed, with a lightly spiced finish."

I love this sparkling wine! It is light and fruity without being too sweet. It has been a favorite for years.

Outstanding wine on the level of a good Champaign from France. Wish the extra, extra dry vintage was available as well.

If I'm craving a sparkling wine or champagne and it's not New Years or my anniversary, this is my top pick. It is better than some real champagnes I've tried, and for around $10 you've got to love that.

My husband and I tried this at a taste testing before our wedding and we loved it. It was exactly what we were looking for in a "champagne". We liked this wine so much, not only did we serve it to our guests, we sent them all home with a smaller bottle of it for their favor. Plus, the bottle is fancy enough for any party. And our guests loved it. It is perfect to bring for any party and it won't break your bank, either.

2nd bottle update- Upgraded to 4 stars. Another speed drinking bottle, but truly very yummy. Really good price for a reliable bottle. 1st bottle-Great tiny bubbles. Easily drinkable-in fact drank it rather quickly. Not much amazing going on, but worthy of drinking.

Pleasant and smooth Cava. Very similar to Cristalino Brut, at least to my amateur pallet, but slightly more expensive.

Drank this for 7 days in Barcelona. Great for the price and beautiful bottle. Looks and tastes more expensive than it is.

Learn About Freixenet

The Freixenet cava business started in 1914. Pere Ferrer Bosch was the son of La Freixeneda, the family estate located in the Alt Penedes region since the XIIIth century. Right from the start they decided to produce only cava, a natural sparkling wine, following the method used in Champagne (France) for a couple of centuries. The cellars were set up in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia...

The third largest country in production, Spain ranks first in land under vine. Diversity and innovation are the key factors bringing Spain back into the world wine market. The most popular red varieties of Spain include Tempranillo and Garnacha (Grenache).
